One color, on purpose

Launching with one product in one color was one of the hardest and most intentional decisions in the NEON PALM story. Here’s why black came first.

One color, on purpose

Have you ever heard of a brand not only launching with one product, but choosing to do it in only one color?

And then having that color be black? Y’all, I’m wild. What can I say.

We started with black, and it was one of the hardest but most intentional decisions in the origin story of NEON PALM.

We didn’t start there because we couldn’t imagine The Ginger in other colors. We absolutely can. In fact, we already do. (Hello, wall full of swatches.)

But we started there because when you are trying to make something that earns a permanent place in someone’s closet, black is the right place to begin.

Want to hear a fun little fact? I love a fun little fact. In 1926, when Vogue featured Chanel’s now-famous little black dress, it compared it to the Ford automobile: simple, modern, and destined to become something everyone would wear.

Nearly a century later, I believe with every bone in my body that the idea still holds.

Black works. It works at 8 a.m., and it certainly works at 8 p.m.

It works with the jacket you’ve owned forever (shoutout to the H&M denim coat I’ve had since high school), and the shoes you just bought that might be “a little too much.” Black works with gold, silver, camel, oxblood, polka dots, rainbows, and sequins. You name it, and I promise black is a dear friend to whatever you’re loving these days.

And perhaps more importantly, it lets the design do the work.

The silhouette. The waist. The pockets. The fabric. The proportion.

There is nowhere for those decisions to hide, and I wanted that pressure. I wanted it to make sure she was perfect.

We believe in fewer, better things. So instead of launching The Ginger in six colors and asking you to choose, we started with the one we thought could do the most.

There will be more. In fact, you’ll get to help decide what beautiful shade she comes in next. And one day, I hope you have a closet full of limited-edition Gingers.

But first: black.
