The only fall trend worth your money

One jacket, and suddenly everything you already own looks brand new.

Y’all, I love fashion month. I always have. So many beautiful runway shows, gorgeous outfits, and really strong points of view. 

And quickly thereafter, we really start feeling all the fall trend reports really start to show up in force. And if you are anything like me, it's easy to start thinking that it’s time for a whole new wardrobe. 

For a hot minute last week, I started shopping for royal purple fringe. That’s real. That actually happened. 

This year alone, we are getting bombarded by fur, chocolate brown, suede, and peplums (how are we back here again? But I digress). It’s a lot. And in my opinion, you can skip almost all of it. 

But if you are looking to buy one “trend’ to elevate your already strong closet, there is one worth buying. 

And that is a cropped jacket. 

Basically a coat that is shrunken and ends at or just above your waist. Unlike most trends out there, it isn’t asking you to swap out your entire closet, but it can make your closet feel like a brand new one. Trust us.

This one is all about proportions, and it does a whole lot of work. A short jacket shows your waist, lengthens your legs, and turns something relaxed into an outfit. It works with everything. Actually. Dresses, trousers, skirts, and yes, even your new favorite jumpsuit (hey now, Ginger!). 

When you go shopping for one, look for three things: 

• It should hit at your natural waist or just above. 

• It should be structured enough to hold its shape. 

• And the color should be a neutral (black, camel, or brown) to carry you through the whole season and be most versatile. 

And the fun part is, you have a ton of options when it comes to fabric. I’m personally loving leather and suede, but you do you. 

Around here, we are really big fans of buying one thing and making it worth it for the long haul. It’s kind of our whole vibe. Skip the rest, but buy the jacket.
